Awards and Recognition for Las Cruces, New Mexico
2008
May 28, 2008: Las Cruces Mayor Pro Tem Dolores C. Archuleta received the Seven Seals Award by the Department of Defense for her support and work with the Las Cruces National Guard. This award was given in recognition of Las Cruces's outstanding maintenance and readiness of National Guard and Reserve Units. In addition, the city of Las Cruces received the Above and Beyond Award for extraordinary support of National Guard employees.
Las Cruces won Top Destination Award by Facilities and Destinations Magazine six times. This prestigious award is given to leading cities that exhibit a superior ability to accommodate visitors, provide planning services, and host large conventions.
2007
Inc. Magazine ranked Las Cruces #9 as the best small city boomtown out of 400 American cities classified as boomtowns and ranked Las Cruces as #15 in best overall city. Employment opportunities, job growth, and local economic strength determined city rankings.

2006
Voted #1 Safest city in the United States for a city with a population between 150,000 - 500,000 by You Belong Magazine by Farmers Insurance Group.
